Here I am in front of the grave of Don Luis Antonio Arguello: (bio from findagrave.com)
Birth: Jun. 21, 1784 San Francisco San Francisco County California, USA Death: Mar. 27, 1830 San Francisco San Francisco County California, USA
First Govenor of Alta California while under Mexican rule and the only one under the Mexican empire. Don Luis Antonio Arguello was a member of a large and influential family and was govenor of California from November 1822 until November 1825. Arguello had been a military Captain under the Spanish government. He was also the first native Californian called to serve in this capacity. He had gained some notability because of an exploring expedition into the unknown northern parts of California. While in office he was led into numerous dealings with the Russians and his policy toward them was highly liberal, even dangerous. He published his diary "The Dairy of Captain Arguello: The Last Spanish Expedition in California, October 17-November 17, 1821." in 1821.
Mission Dolores is the oldest building in the city and is very beautiful. It's also, as far as I know, the only cemetery in the city.
I'm not sure why I painted myself with a neon face but, oh well...

if you were to be inspired to do pieces like this and the others in this series of the so many places of interest around the bay, it would make a very different kind of travelogue of one of the best places on earth... and other inhabited planets... :]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
